Chappell Roan’s VMAs Red Carpet Performance Makes a Splash, But Escapes Fan Criticism

Chappell Roan responded to a photographer’s comments as she walked the red carpet at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.

The photographer received a harsh response from Roan after he appeared to tell her to “shut up” while adjusting her dress.

Roan quickly turned away from the paparazzi before suddenly facing them and retorting forcefully, “Shut up.”

“Not me, you bastard,” she insisted, looking the photographer straight in the eye.

It’s unclear what led to the brawl, but fans are defending the 26-year-old singer after she was criticised for “always complaining”.

According to X user @YSLONIKA, “you can’t blame these photographers for being rude and annoying for no reason.”

@sIeazii also wrote, “like she said, since when did photographers become so ungrateful?”

@ladidaix added, “Chappell was right to react that way because he was incredibly rude.”

Roan strode confidently down the crimson path, flaunting her medieval-inspired outfit. With a sword clutched in one hand, she posed elegantly for the camera, wearing a seductive Y/Project dress.

The “My Kink Is Karma” singer said she had a theme in mind for her look, telling MTV on the red carpet, “I’m not going to give it all away, but I will say take notes,” hinting that there may be some reveals to come.

Roan’s impressive achievements earned her recognition in four VMA categories: Best New Artist, Push Performance of the Year, Song of Summer, and Trending Video.
