Early life
Charles Allan Hill was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 6, 1951, to Eileen and Norbert and immigrated to the Oneida Indian Reservation with his family in 1962. He has an older brother named Jimmy.
He graduated from West De Pere High School in 1969 and went on to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in speech and theater, and was a member of the Broom Street Theater Group.
He was a member of the Hanay Geiogomah Native American Theater Group in the 1970s. The group performed Coyote Tracks and Foghorn at the La MaMa Experimental Theater Club in Manhattan.
Charlie Hill also toured Germany in 1973 and the United States the following year. Charlie Hill moved to Los Angeles after graduating and began working as an actor and comedian.
Hill has co-hosted the First Americans in the Arts awards in Hollywood three times. He has performed stand-up comedy at venues around the world and is a regular at The Comedy Store in Hollywood.
Career
Hill made his television debut in 1977 on The Richard Pryor Show, and has since appeared on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, Late Night with David Letterman and Jay Leno.
Hill starred in the short film Harold of Orange (1984) and was the subject of On and Off The Res with Charlie Hill (1999). He was interviewed for the documentary A Good Day to Die about Native American Movement activist Dennis Banks.

He married Lenora Hatathlie. They had four children, Dine’ Nizhoni, Nasbah, Nanabah, and Nabahe. He died on December 30, 2013, of lymphoma in Oneida, Wisconsin, United States.
