Damodharan K., also known as Chef Damu, is a famous Indian chef.
On several Tamil television channels, he has hosted many cooking shows and reality cooking competitions, most notably as a judge in Cooku alongside Comali on Star Vijay.
In 2010, he set the Guinness World Record for the longest one-man cooking contest.
He is also the first Indian chef to receive a PhD in Hotel Management and Catering Technology from the University of Madras in 2004. Additionally, he has appeared in several Tamil films.

Early life
Dr. K Dhamodaran is the real name of Chef Dhamu. He was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on September 3, 1954. His parents’ names are still unknown.
His wife’s name was Usha Dhamu, and he married her. Akshaya was the name of the daughter born to the couple.
He completed his higher education and research in Chennai and worked as a professor.

Career
He was not very interested in studying. Therefore, he decided to pursue a master’s degree in Hotel Management and Administration.
He then worked as a chef at Taj Coromandel. Initially, he faced many challenges. However, he became a good chef at Taj Coromandel in Mumbai.
He then set the Guinness World Record for Longest Cooking by cooking for about 25 hours and completing over 617 dishes. He is the only chef with a PhD in the field of catering.
Cook With Dhamu, a show on Jaya TV, was his television debut. He eventually made his acting debut in Kollywood with the movie Kallapadam, and then he had a small role in Ulkuthu.
In seasons 1-3 of Cooku With Comaali, he appeared as one of the judges along with Venkatesh Bhat. The show was a huge success.
After this show, he starred in the film Server Sundaram, in which Santhanam played the lead role. This film is yet to be released. He has appeared in the web series Kalyanam Conditions Apply.
Comali Cooking
Chef Dhamu was a judge on the first season of Cooku With Comaali due to the show’s popularity. He also appeared on Season 2 of the show.
The show was also named Best TV Show at the Behindwoods TV Awards. He is currently one of the judges on Cooku With Comaali season three.
Damu and Venkatesh Bhat won the ‘Best Non-Fiction Jodi’ award at the Vijay Television Awards 2022 for their appearance in Cook with Comali.
