Early life and education
Chester Bennington was born on March 20, 1976 in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. His mother, Susan Elaine Johnson, is a nurse, and his father, Lee Russell Bennington, is a police investigator. He also has a younger brother named Brian Bennington.
He received his basic education at Ironwood High School. As a child, he first developed a drug addiction and began abusing marijuana, alcohol, opium, cocaine, methamphetamine and ecstasy.
Chester Bennington ran away from home with his mother at the age of 17. His mother found out that he was taking drugs during this period and he was not allowed to leave the house. Later, he started working part-time at Burger King restaurant to make a living.

In 1993, Chester Bennington joined his first band, Sean Dowdell and His Friends, a grunge rock band. The band released a three-track cassette that year. Later in 1993, he became a member of the band Grey Daze, whose singles included “Wake Me”, “Demo in” and “No Sun Today”.
However, he was not satisfied with just being a member of the band because he did not get the recognition he deserved. Therefore, he quit the band in 1998. Later, he became a member of the band Linkin Park, and the band released its debut album of the same name, Hybrid Theory, in 2000, and he participated in the singing of the album.
The album was a huge success and was considered a blockbuster. It debuted at number one on the US Billboard charts and quickly became the best-selling album of the year. He claimed that some of his songs did not fit the style of Linkin Park, so he had Dead by Sunrise include these tunes. In 2006, he played a drugstore customer in the American action film “Rampage”. Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor co-directed the film.
In 2007, Chester Bennington released his third album, Minutes to Midnight. This album became one of his most successful albums, with first-week sales of over 600,000 copies, topping the Billboard charts. On October 13, 2009, he released Dead by Sunrise’s first album, Out of Ashes. This album performed mediocrely.

He lent his vocals to Linkin Park’s fourth album, A Thousand Suns, released in 2010. The multi-concept album focused on the concept of nuclear war. In October 2010, Chester Bennington made a cameo appearance in the 3D horror film Saw 3D, directed by Kevin Groot.
