early life
Chiedza Mhende was born in Harare, Zimbabwe, but moved to South Africa to further his studies and become famous.
She was born on October 20, 1991.

Chiedza Mhende received his pre-tertiary education in Zimbabwe but matriculated into the College of Creative Economy in 2006 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Live Performance in 2009 from AFDA Cape Town.

After studying at AFDA, Chiedza Mhende entered the Cape Town theatre scene and made her debut in 2010, playing Lady Capulet in Artscape’s production of the classic play Romeo and Juliet.
She then moved into theatre and therapy work, working with a number of institutions including Bonfire Improve Theatre Company and the Zakheni Foundation for the Healing Arts.
She has performed leading roles in Shakespeare and original productions on prestigious stages in Johannesburg and Cape Town. She also has a strong foundation in arts therapy, thanks to her experience as a theatre practitioner at the Zach Heiney Arts Foundation and as an improvement artist at Bonfire Theatre Company.
In July 2017, she starred opposite Theo Landey in a revival of Sue Pam-Grant’s comedy Chasing Chairs. Later that year, Chiedza Mhende made her debut in Janice Honeyman’s Pinocchio at the Johannesburg Theatre, playing the villain cat Pussy Galore, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Panto season.
In March 2019, Chiedza Mhende left the Generations cast and began training under mentor Ronnie Lennox to become a trusted house cleaning service and Multicam director. In May 2019, she joined the cast of Africa’s first Netflix original series, QUEEN SONO, as SOG General Manager Miriro Dube.
In 2014, Chi won the Best Actress Award at the Durban International Film Festival for her lead role in the feature film, Love What You Love, directed by Jenna Bass. For this role, Chi was also nominated for the African Movie Academy Award for Best Newcomer.
In July 2015, Chiedza Mhende accepted the role of Wandile Radebe in SABC Channel 1’s Generations: The Legacy.
A voice-over artist with over a decade of experience, she has voiced numerous local and international documentaries, television and radio programmes. Chiedza Mhende is currently the voice-over artist for programmes such as 702, Cape Talk and Fine Music Radio.
