Chigs Parmar on the Great British Bake Off
As widely reported and shared, when his work was put on hold due to COVID-19, Chigs decided to use his time to pursue baking as a new hobby. He started baking at the beginning of the 2020 lockdown. Initially, he started with sourdough bread.
A self-taught baker, Chigs learned all his trades from watching online videos to learning complex baking techniques and chocolate making. However, he is a natural at what he does best. Who would have thought that what started as a hobby would pave the way for Chigs to become a reality TV star in British Baking Competition?
But that’s exactly what happened to Chirag. In an interview with LeicestershireLive, Chigs shared, “No, I never believed I would actually be on the show but was absolutely delighted to be chosen as a contestant – the hard part was keeping it a secret because I was so excited to be on the show.”
He will compete against 11 other contestants. The others who will join him are Amanda, a 56-year-old detective from London; Crystelle, 26, a customer relations manager from London; Freya, a 19-year-old psychology student from Scarborough; George, 34, from London; Giuseppe, a 45-year-old chief engineer from Bristol; Jairzeno, a 51-year-old finance director from London; Jurgen, from the Black Forest, Germany; Lizzie, a 28-year-old car manufacturing worker from Liverpool; Maggie, a 70-year-old retired nurse from Dorset; Rochica, a 27-year-old junior HR business partner from Birmingham; and Tom, a 28-year-old developer from Kent.
With his attention to detail and organizational skills, Chigs believes his victory will be successful.
Fun Fact: If Chigs could make a selfie cookie, he would do it with the Taj Mahal in the background.

Chirag ‘Chigs’ Parmar AKA Cherry Chirag hails from Leicester, UK. He is of Indian-British descent. There is hardly any information shared about his family members. Sadly, he lost his father some time ago and he went on a trip to India with his family.
It appears he has at least one sibling. According to his IG post on September 22, 2021, he has a nephew named Emile.
“The guest of honour was my nephew Emile who came to share the first episode of Bake Off with me,” he wrote in the post. None of his family are bakers, however. But they all inspired him to bake.

Chigs Parmar’s Wife
Similar to the details of his family members, Chigs relationship status is also a mystery. A man in his early 40s, most people are married at this age. However, we cannot say for sure as he has never said anything about getting married so far.
Most people of Indian origin (his age) follow the tradition of arranged marriages, as it is still very much in the Indian culture.
