Chris Daughtry showed off his blacked-out full-arm tattoo in recent photos he shared of himself on Instagram over the past week, drawing reactions from fans and followers of the singer. Daughtry’s main and American idol alum.
And in one of his subsequent replies to someone who commented on it, the musician quipped that tattoos aren’t “meant to turn you on.”
Last Friday (November 29), the rocker showed off the new ink covering his arms with an Instagram photo captioned “Life imitates art.” He added hashtags for things like “blackout,” “ink,” and “tattoo.” He followed that up with another shot of his arms on Monday (December 1) as he worked out in the gym while wearing some new items from his band Daughtry, himself rocking a Daughtry shirt with a spooky skull on the front.
Not everyone likes tattoos. In the post from Friday, an Instagram user replied under the image: “Chris loves your music but this photo is off….sending such a dark message.”
In response, the singer wrote: “First… THIS was NEVER intended to turn you on. Second, PLEASE SAY what dark message I’m sending!!!???”
Below Monday’s photo, fellow rockers Shinedown offered some positive words of encouragement for singer Daughtry: “SUPER HOT PERVERT!!! JOIN. FUCKING BOY!!!” The singer responded to them with a number of excited emojis.

Another person in that photo post said: “As a tattoo artist, I see a lot of people objecting to Blackout tattoos. I think it’s an incredible tattoo style and yours is done well.” is extremely good.” In response, the musician just said: “Thank you!”
Over the years, Daughtry has had a number of distinct stylized tattoos mostly concentrated on his biceps, the “blacking out” work now completely covered in jet black ink. It’s a recent trend in tattoo art, with other music-related celebrities including Machine Gun Kelly, Ronnie Radke and Kat Von D also blackening their arms in recent years.
Daughtry’s latest full-length studio album is 2021 pampersbut the rock act of the same name followed that up with the EP System Shock (Part One)appeared earlier this year. The EP includes singles such as “The Reckoning” and “The Dam.”
