Early life and education
Chris Kamara, now 66, was born on December 25, 1957, in Middlesbrough, England. He grew up in the Park End housing estate in Middlesbrough, where he was one of the few black families in the area.
Kamara’s father, Alimamy Kindo “Albert” Kamara, was originally from Sierra Leone. Kamara’s mother, Irene, sometimes had to rely on neighbors for financial support to provide food for Kamara and his siblings due to his father’s gambling habits.
Kamara attended Middlesbrough School and showed an aptitude for football from an early age. He joined the Royal Navy at the age of 16, following in his father’s footsteps.
Despite missing out on the Middlesbrough Boys Youth Cup final, Kamara continued to play for the Royal Navy rugby team. He trained at HMS Raleigh in Torpoint and was later transferred to HMS Vernon.

Chris Kamara married Anne on May 29, 1982. The couple has two sons, Ben Kamara and Jack Kamara.
Kamara keeps his private life private, but it is known that he remains close friends with Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson, with whom he grew up at Park End.
Career
Kamara’s football career began when he was spotted playing for the Navy by Portsmouth manager Ian St John. He signed his first professional contract with Portsmouth in November 1974.
Kamara has played for a number of clubs, including Swindon Town, Brentford, Stoke City, Leeds United, Luton Town, Sheffield United and Bradford City.
After playing, Kamara moved into management. He was appointed manager of Bradford City in November 1995 and led the team to promotion from the Second Division via the play-offs in 1996.
He then managed Stoke City for a short period in 1998.
After his managerial career, Kamara became a well-known television personality. He joined Sky Sports as a football pundit and presenter, where he became renowned for his entertaining and passionate style of analysis.
He has also appeared on television shows, such as “Ninja Warrior UK” And “Big Sports Cooking Competition“ .
