Christopher Anthony John Martin was born in Whitestone, England on March 2, 1977. He was raised by his parents Alison Martin and Anthony Martin and siblings Nicola Martin, Richard Martin and Alex Martin.
After attending Exeter Cathedral School, Martin went on to Sherborne School, where he met his future Coldplay manager Phil Harvey. He then went on to University College London, where he gained a first class honours degree in Ancient World Studies, majoring in Greek and Latin.
