early life

Ckay was born on July 16, 1995 in the northern Nigerian city of Kaduna. He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ekweani, who are of Igbo descent. Ckay’s Igbo name is Chukwuka, which means “God is Great” in English. Ckay is from Anambra State in the southeast of the country.

Although they live in Kaduna, the Ekweni family still adheres to the Christian faith. The family regularly attends services at the local church and plays an active role in the church. Kay’s father is a member of the choir and serves as a respected choirmaster.
