Career
Carton began his career as a broadcaster in 1991 at Buffalo’s WGR Radio. Then, in April 1993, he began working at WIP in Philadelphia and WWWE in Cleveland in 1992. Carton joined the station’s morning drive show on WIP, where he was the weekend host brazenly known as “The Kid.”
Carton moved to Denver from the East Coast and worked primarily at KKFN 950 AM, also known as “The Fan.” He quickly became the highest-rated host in the station’s history when his morning show took off. He then started hosting the most popular local morning show in the market, KBPI’s morning slot. Carton moved to Denver to care for his pregnant wife Kim, expecting their first child.
Carton then took over for Scott Kaplan on WNEW-FM’s Sports Guys morning radio show in New York City in late 2000. He was there for a year. With the addition of stunts like live cockfighting and “Pastapalooza,” he changed the flow of the show.

During the September 11, 2001 attacks, Carton and Blain Ensley were performing live on WNEW. Carton began co-hosting The Jersey Guys on WKXW in July 2002. The show received a nomination for a Marconi Award as the nation’s best mid-market talk show.
