Damon Kyle Wayans (born September 4, 1960), better known by his stage name Damon Wayans, is a well-known writer, actor, comedian, and producer. He is a member of the Wayans family of artists. He worked as a comedian and actor in the 1980s, including one year on Saturday Night Live in a comedy sketch show.

Damon Wayans began doing stand-up comedy in 1982. His first role was as a womanizing hotel clerk in Eddie Murphy’s 1984 film Beverly Hills Cop.
He was a featured performer on Saturday Night Live from 1985 to 1986. However, he was fired after only 11 episodes because he improvised during live sketches and portrayed his character as a flamboyant gay cop instead of a straight one.
Damon Wayans later claimed that he wanted to be fired because he was not given enough creative freedom or screen time. Lorne Michaels did not want him to start being compared to Eddie Murphy. He also had a comedic role in the syndicated television series Solid Gold during the 1980s.
Damon Wayans co-created the Fox comedy series In Living Color with his brother Keenan Ivory Wayans, which featured a predominantly African-American cast. The show first aired in April 1990. Although Damon Wayans left the show in 1992 to pursue a film career, the show continued to air until May 1994.
