Damon Kyle Wayans (born September 4, 1960), better known by his stage name Damon Wayans, is a well-known writer, actor, comedian, and producer. He is a member of the Wayans family of artists. He worked as a comedian and actor in the 1980s, including one year on Saturday Night Live in a comedy sketch show.

Damon Wayans was born on September 4, 1960 in New York, USA. His father, Elvira Alethia, was a housewife, singer, and social worker, and his mother, Howell Wayans, was a grocery store manager.
He has five sisters, Elvira Wayans, Vonnie Wayans, Nadia Wayans, Kim Wayans and Diedre Wayans, and four brothers, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Dwayne Wayans.

Damon Wayans began doing talk shows in 1982. His first role was as a womanizing hotel clerk in Eddie Murphy’s 1984 film Beverly Hills Cop.
He was a featured performer on Saturday Night Live from 1985 to 1986. However, he was fired after only 11 episodes because he improvised during live sketches and portrayed his character as a flamboyant gay cop instead of a straight one.
