Dan Link On N*ked And Scared: Last Man Standing

The stakes are being raised by the newest entrants Naked and Afraid branch. Twelve of the strongest contestants from previous seasons of the Discovery Channel reality series have been eliminated from South Africa’s harsh Oribi Gorge Naked and Afraid: Last Man Standing. For a chance to win the $100,000 main prize, contestants will take part in a multi-stage challenge that will test their survival skills.

Phase one of the challenge sees pairs of survivors compete to survive 21 days in the jungle. Food, drink, fire and shelter are all up to each pair to find. But in the first Naked and Afraid, they will also need to work to acquire the survival tools they need, which are hidden in their surroundings. They will move to a different area each week to maximize their abilities. A competitor’s partner is also eliminated if they decide to quit at any point during the match.

The remaining survivors will enter a group challenge in the second round of the game, where they will face off against and against their peers. The third and most intense segment of the show is the finale. The three-day rescue mission will be for everyone to fight for themselves and the survivors. The winner of the competition will receive a six-figure prize and Naked and Afraid’s first perfect Primal Survival rating of 10 in addition to winning.

Among the 12 contestants on the show is Dan, a marine biologist and one of two survivors who completed a 14-day fan challenge to become a legend in a 60-day challenge.

Of his earlier experience on the show, Dan said, “The skin on my arms and legs was ripped off and my lips were so cracked and crusted that I thought I might be permanently disfigured.” But he made it to the final day. He said, “The sense of accomplishment when you get to that final day is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before.”

Dan Link is the son of the late Mary Kay Link. Mary was one of seven children born to Jim and Kay Link. She spent nearly 30 years as a nurse and nursing educator, earning respect, accolades, and awards in her career.

After battling pancreatic cancer, she passed away on September 5, 2009 at the age of 55. She is survived by her siblings: John (Charlene), Jim (Debbie), Bob (Robin), Betty (Pete), Tom (Maria), and Jane.

Besides Dan, Mary also has a daughter named Michelle.
