Silverchair was formed in 1992 by high school friends Daniel Johns, Ben Gillies and Chris Joannou. Originally called “The Innocent Criminals,” the band practiced extensively after school and won a television competition in 1994 with the song “Tomorrow.”

This led to a record deal with Sony Music, and the band quickly released their debut album, “Frogstomp,” in 1995. Over the next seven years, they released three more successful studio albums: “Freak Show” (1997), “Neon Ballroom” (1999), and “Diorama” (2002).

After Diorama, the band took a break, during which time lead singer Daniel Johns worked with producer Paul Mac on side projects such as The Dissociatives. In 2007, Silverchair reunited and released the album Young Modern, followed by the “Across the Great Divide” tour with Powderfinger.
