Early life
Daniel Thompson, formerly known and known as Abraham Thomas Thompson, was born on January 16, 1921. He was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
In honor of a cousin who had recently died, his parents changed his name to Daniel just weeks after he was born. He and his family moved to Los Angeles when he was young, and his father opened a bakery in Boyle Heights.
