Early life

Adedapo Oluseun Abiodun was born into the Iperu royal family on May 29, 1960, in Iperu Remo, Ogun State.

He was born in Iperu Remo, Ogun East District to Dr. Emmanuel Abiodun and Mrs. Victoria Abiodun. Abiodun’s educational background remains unknown.

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, he was embroiled in a certificate controversy, claiming to have received a degree from Obafemi Awolowo University under the 2015 senatorial election form for Ogun East but only a senior secondary school certificate under the 2019 governorship election form.

In a December 2018 interview with Seun Okinbaloye on Channel TV, Abiodun “claimed never to have received a degree from Obafemi Awolowo University”.

Career

He is the managing director and chief executive officer of Heyden Petroleum Ltd., an oil and gas company in Nigeria. According to accounts, he is also the founder of First Power Limited.

Dapo Abiodun has been the governor of Ogun State since he won the 2019 general elections as a candidate of the All Progressives Congress.
