Grier’s career began on Broadway when he made his professional debut as Jackie Robinson in the musical. First personreceived a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical and won a 1981 Theater World Award.
He later joined the cast of Dreamy girls before being paired with Denzel Washington in A soldier’s gamelater adapted into a film titled Story of a soldier.
