Early life
David Roland Cook was born on December 20, 1982, in Houston, Texas, to Stanley Cook and Beth Foraker. He is survived by Adam Cook, who died in 2009, and his younger brother Andrew Cook.
He started to be interested in music from a young age, that’s the beginning. He was singing from the second grade. He was given his first guitar when he was very young. In high school, he also participated in various theater programs.
Cook attended Blue Springs South High School in Missouri, where he received his diploma in 2001. He was a regular at cultural events. While at Blue Springs South High School, he played in the National Forensic League (NFL).
In addition to being a musician, he was also a basketball player. He gave up his sports career after an accident to focus on music. He was accepted to the University of Central Missouri on a theater scholarship.
But he dropped out after two semesters. He then pursued graphic design and graduated in 2006. He moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma after graduation to pursue a music career.

Cook’s career journey began in high school when he joined a band with his friends. Cook formed the band Axium while still in high school, and at the age of 15, he wrote his first song.
In 2004, the band was named Kansas City’s greatest band and they released three studio albums. When David moved to Tulsa in 2006, they broke up. He later became a member of the Midwest Kings and released a solo album called Analog Heart.
