Career
As a young man, David Gandy aspired to be a vet, but his grades weren’t good enough. While studying multimedia computing, he worked delivering luxury cars to test them out. In 2001, while studying marketing at the University of Gloucestershire, his roommate entered him into a TV modelling competition, which he won and landed him a contract with Select Model Management.
Gandy dropped out of college just before completing his degree to pursue modeling full-time. Early in his career, he modeled for many popular brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, Zara, Hugo Boss, Carolina Herreraand others. In 2006, he became the face of Dolce & Gabbanaappeared in their campaigns and fashion shows until 2011.
Gandy is best known for his smash hit 2007 Light blue perfume campaign for Dolce & Gabbanaincluding a 50-foot-tall billboard in Times Square. He continues to be the face of Light blue fragrance in the following campaigns.
