death at dawn
Dead by Daylight is an online horror game in which four survivors (the survivors) try to escape a dangerous situation orchestrated by another player (the killer). The killer’s goal is to capture the survivors and sacrifice them to an evil force called “The Entity.” To survive, the survivors must work together to repair the generator and open the exit door, while hiding from the killer.

Dead by Daylight gameplay
Dead by Daylight is a horror game where one player is the killer and the other four are survivors. In each game, called a “trial,” survivors must repair generators to escape, while it’s the killer’s job to catch and impale them with hooks. If all survivors escape or only one survivor remains, they can use the escape hatch. But if the killer catches them, a timer starts and the survivors must escape before time runs out or be sacrificed. Killers use different powers, and survivors can hide, run away, or use items like flashlights and health kits. The game involves chases, strategy, and teamwork as survivors try to outwit the killer and complete the goal of escaping.

Dead by Daylight plot
The entity is a strange being that lives between dimensions and thrives on violence and evil deeds. It summons a killer, usually a serial killer or someone with a tragic past, to hunt down survivors in a twisted world. The entity requires sacrifice to survive, so it forces the killer to hunt survivors, feed on their emotions, and take parts of their souls when they die. To keep the hunt going, the entity traps the survivors in a dreamlike state, exposing them to constant danger from the killer.

Survivors wander into the woods or explore abandoned places and find themselves in the physical world, disappearing without a trace. Some were taken before their death, while others were entered using magical symbols. They gather around the campfire between trials to rest until the next hunt begins. Each hunt takes place in a realm created by the entity based on the killer’s past. If survivors escape, they will always return to the campfire, where they can offer items to the entity to aid them or pray for mercy. The entity watches the hunt unfold, only stepping in to claim those who sacrificed for it.
Each survivor and killer has their own backstory, explaining their abilities and how they ended up in the physical realm. These stories are revealed through in-game challenges called “Tomes” that unlock more details about their pasts. Every few months, books are released alongside a battle pass called “The Rift” that expands Dead by Daylight’s lore.
