Nicki Minaj’s former manager Deb Antney shared some insight into managing the rapper – and a shocking offer she received to work with her.
Antney revealed that she was offered $5 million for Minaj’s release in an interview earlier this week.
“They offered me $5 million to get rid of Nicki,” Antney said, as quoted by AllHiphop. “And I need that $5 million. But you can’t pay me enough. You can’t do that to me. I’ll never have to talk to her again in my life, but that’s my baby.”
Antney’s comments come at a time of continued tension with Minaj, especially since Antney revealed that she attempted to resolve a dispute between the “Anaconda” rapper and her one-time rival, Lil’ Kim.
For her part, Antney said the fallout doesn’t worry her. “She can talk about me, she can say whatever she wants to say, she can do whatever she wants to do. People were so shocked when they saw me; they didn’t want to I went with her on that tour.”
Antney said she could never really say a bad word about Minaj, seeing her as special, a sisterly type of relationship.
“Those are things I can’t do to her,” she explained, adding, “Like I can’t even talk or take her down the way I want to take her down, or say what I want tell her.” her, because she’s too fragile for me.”
Additionally, Antney touched on the need for mentorship in the music industry and how she wants to help new female artists.
She even called Latto someone who would be better served by more direction.
“There are a number of women in the game right now that I love to grab right under my wing,” Antney said. “Because I feel like they don’t have a team. And they’re going to be huge.”
