Early life
Daniel “Dee” Snider was born on March 15, 1955 in Astoria, Queens, New York City, to Marguerite, a former art teacher, and Bob, a retired New York State Police and Nassau County court clerk . He grew up on Long Island.
In 1973, he earned his degree from Baldwin High School. Snider was selected for the All-State Choir for his singing ability at a young age. He participated in the church choir and the Baldwin High School Concert Choir.

In the 1980s, Dee Snider rose to fame in the hard rock genre as the lead vocalist of the New Jersey-based glam-metallers band Twisted Sister in its early days. Along with Frank Zappa and John Denver, he testified against censorship in 1985.
It was Tipper Gore-led PMRC (Parents Music Resource Center) – Universal Anthems, We’re Not Gonna Take It and Snider’s I Wanna Rock, and the company charted class in 1984. For $7 million, Snider sold Universal Music Publishing Group the rights to Twisted Sister’s music, which included a collection of 69 songs.
