Demetria Obilor was born in Kansas City on March 29, 1991. She is of mixed race. Her father is Nigerian while her mother is white.
Her father is from one of the southeastern states of Nigeria. Therefore, Demetria is an Igbo woman. While from her mother, she has German, Lithuanian and Russian ancestors.

In her 20s, she interned at KSHB-TV for several months. She worked there as a production technician.
After graduating from college, she started working as a traffic reporter. In 2014, the TV show 8 News NOW hired her as a traffic reporter.
She left the show after a while and moved to Las Vegas where she secured a job as a Traffic Anchor and News Now reporter for KLAS-TV, a CBS affiliate.
She spent three years working at the television station before moving to WFAA-TV, where she hosted the Traffic ensemble.
In addition to her work as a traffic reporter, she is also a versatile television presenter, having hosted programmes such as the McDonald’s Green for Grads event and Cyril Wengert Primary School’s Reading Rangers programme.
