Diddy discusses Chris Brown and Rihanna’s tumultuous romance resurfacing amid scandal

As Sean “Diddy” Combs faces abuse allegations, he’s suddenly back in the news revisiting comments he made in 1996 about bitter relationships.

In September 2024, the hip-hop mogul was arrested after Scotland Yard raided two of his properties in the previous months as part of a Homeland Security investigation. Serious allegations of abuse and sex trafficking from his ex-girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, followed this arrest.

While all of this was going on, a 15-year-old clip from “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” resurfaced, in which Combs talked about the controversial relationship between Chris Brown and Rihanna.

During the interview, DeGeneres asked Combs if “it was okay for this couple to gather at his Miami home” when Brown was accused of domestic abuse against Rihanna.

Combs, in the episode, said:

“I’m the type of person who doesn’t throw stones, doesn’t judge anyone. So if a friend or friend asks me for help, I’m there.” a helping hand as long as I know that the energy of that helping is positive for two people to sit down and talk about the situation they’re in.”

DeGeneres said that no man should be allowed to hit a woman. While Combs agreed that public scrutiny from those on the outside looking in might not help the situation, he added that the public might not understand the complexities of the couple’s situation.

“I think we all need to be honest with ourselves as adults,” he said. “And everyone got engaged to someone, you know. We know some of those relationships went downhill, turned sour.”

These comments resurfaced under scrutiny after Combs’ arrest. He is currently embroiled in a scandal over Ventura’s operation, assault, and forced sex on male prostitutes. The duo reached an out-of-court settlement regarding their civil lawsuit.

Then, last May, a 2016 video surfaced, allegedly showing Combs beating Ventura. A source close to Combs said he saw the video as a distraction from the investigation into his assets.

The New York Post quoted the insider as saying: “He’s very angry. Especially about the video. He insists it doesn’t tell the whole story of what happened.”

The disgraced tycoon is also famous for his lavish parties, such as the infamous white parties he hosted every year from 1998-2009. These events often feature celebrity guests and a dress code.
