Sean “Diddy” Combs and his mother, Janice Combs, are facing serious allegations from former Bad Boy Records associate Deon “D1” Best.
Best accused Janice of engaging in fraudulent business practices aimed at siphoning off publishing and copyright rights from artists working with Diddy’s record label.
Speaking on ‘The Trial of Diddy’ podcast, Best stated, “All my publishing rights belong to Janice Combs.” He further alleges that Janice and Diddy, 55, used her name and company to conceal financial transactions that deprived him and others of their rightful income. “These actions have caused financial hardship, emotional hardship, not only for me but for other artists in the business through what I feel is fraudulent activity,” Best alleged. and coercion. And I think Janice Combs falls within those principles.”
Best, who says he contributed to notable Bad Boy projects such as Biggie’s 1999 platinum album ‘Born Again’, alleges that proceeds from these works were funneled to Janice once and for all. unfair way. He announced plans to file formal legal complaints against both Janice and Diddy to seek compensation for his alleged losses.
This controversy added to Diddy’s growing legal troubles.
On September 16, 2024, he was arrested by Homeland Security agents following a grand jury indictment on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. He pleaded not guilty during his first court appearance but was denied bond by U.S. Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky. The next day, a second judge, Andrew L. Carter Jr., also rejected a $50 million bail offer, citing concerns about potential witness intimidation.
Currently being held at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center, Diddy faces many other legal battles. On September 24, a woman filed a lawsuit accusing him and his head of security of drugging, binding, and raping her in 2001.
Despite the ongoing legal troubles, former Diddy-Dirty Money bandmate Kalenna Harper has spoken out in Diddy’s defense. The third member of the hip hop trio, Dawn Richard, said she was present when the disgraced rapper abused multiple women, including ex-girlfriends Cassie Ventura and Kim Porter. Richard, 41, said he was abused by Diddy, including being locked in a car, verbally assaulted and subjected to unwanted advances.
Harper, who admitted the fallen rap mogul called her phone 56 times, said it was “not witness tampering” and insisted that Richard was just “weird.”
In the clip from her interview with ‘Break Beat Media,’ first published on Wednesday, October 30, Harper addressed claims from Richard’s attorney, Lisa Bloom, who accused Diddy tampers with witnesses. Bloom claims those calls stopped after Harper released a statement claiming she never witnessed the abuse listed in Richard’s file.
“We are now recalling,” she clarified of the many reported calls. “It’s not a fake, it’s a recall, because of that [Richard] are lying.”
