Early life
DJ Kentalky’s birth name is Ismail Lawal, born on April 27, 1987 in Ikeja, the capital of Lagos.
He is Yoruba by tribe and hails from Ogun state in southwestern Nigeria.

He is the first of three children and the eldest child.
DJ Kentalky began building his music career at his local church, where he served as the lead instrumentalist.

DJ Kentalky attended primary school at a local school Ikeji Lagos State Nigeria.
He continued his undergraduate studies at the prestigious Moshood Abiola Polytechnic located in Ogun, Southwestern Nigeria.
As a result, he was able to successfully excel with a degree in Mass Communications.
Career
DJ Kentalky’s impressive career began in 2001 when he joined the MTV Guinness Extra Smooth Train on a tour of the nation’s capital, Abuja, and Benin in Edo State, Nigeria.
He is so good that he has the rare opportunity to be placed alongside other international DJs. He then signed a contract with a record label called “Lion Music” in 2016. This record belongs to 360 degree entertainment.
He was also invited to perform at the house party of the popular Nigerian reality TV show, Big Brother Naija in 2017.

DJ Kentalky has collaborated with some of the top artists in Nigeria and his best work came with YBNL star, Lil Kesh on a song titled “Blessings”. The song received a nomination for the 2016 Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA) for Disc Jockey Combo.
DJ Kentalky is also the main DJ of the famous radio channel Lagos Naija FM 102.7. In addition, he also hosts a famous music show called “Kentalky Gbedu” every Friday night from 10 to 6 pm.
