Early life
DJ Spinall, born Sodamola Oluseye Desmond, was born on the 2nd of June 1984 in the commercial city of Lagos.
He grew up with five other siblings. He came as the third child.
He is Yoruba, of the Yoruba tribe and a Christian, who grew up in a middle-class family in the old city of Lagos and moved to Ogun state in southwestern Nigeria a few years later.
As a child, DJ Spinall loved listening to music and was a huge fan of Legendary Onyeka Onwenu, Bob Marley, Lucky Dube and many others.
He got his first gig as a DJ in a church and was paid five hundred Naira for his services.
Education
DJ Spinall completed his primary and secondary schooling in Lagos, including achieving the Compulsory Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSCE) and West African Examinations Council (WAEC) certificate.
He then attended a University not far from Lagos at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
Career
DJ Spinall is a Nigerian DJ known for his signature top hat. He started his career as a DJ working for a grassroots radio station in Lagos called Ray Power at 100.5 FM in 2004.
He became famous and even joined an industry called Nite to promote underground talent.
Mavin’s recording superstar at that time, Wande Coal was so impressed with this DJ’s work that he hired him as his personal DJ.
His work saw him appear on TV and in several music videos with Wande Coal, which is when he wore a stylish outfit called TheCAP. The secret behind his unique identity, he says, stems from his culture of origin.
Fans loved his mixes and ability to rock the party and nicknamed him “The Crazy Azz Party” an acronym for TheCAP.
DJ Spinall gathered more influence and founded his record label and management company called TheCAP music which launched in 2014.
He then signed music producers to his label and recruited team members to support his Company brand. That same year, he released his first hit single titled “GbaGbe E”, collaborating with Burna Boy.
DJ Spinall has collaborated with the likes of 2baba, Wande Coal, Wizkid, Davido, Mr Eazi, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Kizz Daniel, Joeboy, Fireboy DML and a host of other artists.
DJ Spinall, in 2017, became the first Nigerian-born DJ to tour five cities in the United States; New York, Houston, Miami, Washington DC and Austin. He was highly appreciated with an award at the BET Awards ceremony held in Los Angeles for official DJ of the year 2017.

He even revealed in an interview that he drinks Garri at least once a week.
