Early life

DJ Zeeez was born to Mr. and Mrs. Abdulganiy on April 26. He was born in the mid-90s and was named Abdulazeez Opeyemi by his parents.

He was born in the North of the country, in the city of Minna to be exact. However, he is a native of Osun State, which is in the southwest of Nigeria. So he is a Yoruba. He comes from a Muslim family and was raised in the Muslim faith.

Growing up, his parents made sure he attended Quran classes while also pursuing a Western education. They also made sure he was familiar with his Yoruba roots, teaching him the language and other cultural traits of his tribe.

Although he grew up in Niger State, he was exposed to songs from the Nigerian pop music scene by listening to the radio or watching television, or listening to records on a cassette player. His interest in music was piqued during this period, as he enjoyed artists such as D’banj, Don Jazzy, 2Baba, P-Square, Olu Maintain, who were the top mainstream artists at the time.

Career

Although DJ Zeeez had wanted to pursue a career in music since he was a teenager, it took him a few years to finally pursue his dream. His professional music career officially began in 2016. At that time, DJ Zeeez spent time getting to know other local artists while he composed his own songs. He was still a college student during this time.

He was not only satisfied with composing songs but also went as far as recording them. Many of the singles he recorded during this time did not achieve great commercial success; however, they helped him establish himself as one of the top artists in the student community. This was because the songs were very popular among FUTMINNA students and as a result, DJ Zeeez was invited to perform at several shows and concerts held on campus.

DJ Zeeez’s career took a positive turn in January 2019 after the release of his single Gang, featuring rapper K-dream. The song was a huge success, receiving positive reviews from music critics, widespread airplay on radio stations nationwide, and thousands of streams from fans.

Gang’s success was not yet over as DJ Zeeez followed up with another hit called Dey Alright. The single, featuring Ijaya and Otega Billz, was released in May 2019.

Later that month, he teamed up with Kdream for another music project. But this time, he added Base One to the group. Together, the trio recorded and released the hit single Chika. Chika was so successful that it became No. 1 on Boomplay’s New Song Of The Week.

To close out 2019 and give his massive fan base a festive treat, DJ Zeeez has dropped his single Finito. The song features guest appearances from Superboy Cheque, Spotless and K-dream.

In the early days of the pandemic, when the world was on lockdown and people were forced to stay indoors, Dj Zeeez decided to give his fans a melodic song to get them pumped up. This led to the creation of Sho Ti Broke, featuring Jaido P.

Almost a year after working with Jaido P, he teamed up with the rapper again to record another sensational single, Zaddy. They brought in Zanku Records rapper Papisnoop this time. The trio released the single on January 15, 2021.
