Early life
Darryl Lynn Hughley was born in the United States on March 6, 1963. His father, Charles Hughley, worked as an aviation maintenance man. He is the youngest child in a family of three siblings. Darryl’s teenage years were tumultuous due to his involvement with the Blood street gang.
Because of his antisocial behavior, he was expelled from school. Darryl chooses a new path after the assassination of his cousin, who belonged to a separate gang. He joined the Los Angeles Times as a telemarketer after leaving the gang. He began performing comedy at local clubs.

Hughley and LaDonna Hughley have been married since 1986. Ryan, Tyler and Kyle are the couple’s children. Kyle was diagnosed with Asperger’s as a child, something Hughley has talked about a lot.
