Ziwe Fumudoh’s parents are people who lived through a civil war. They were there during the Nigerian Civil War (the war between the Nigerian government and the Republic of Biafra), and they also lost their parents to that war. (eluminoustechnologies)
It was no surprise that whenever Ziwe raised the subject of a visit to Africa, they immediately objected.
They reportedly fled Nigeria to the United States and continued to live in Lawrence, Massachusetts, where Ziwe was born.
