During an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast, comedian Donnell Rawlings gave a humorous perspective on a viral photo of himself, Diddy and several other celebrities.
The photo, which puts Rawlings in an awkward position between Diddy’s legs, caused a stir online.
The first part of the interview, which lasted nearly 15 minutes, consisted of Rawlings describing in detail the background of a photo from one of Diddy’s parties many years ago.
“I didn’t even know he was back there. I took pictures and I was in an awkward situation,” AllHipHop quoted.
“You don’t have to say between the man’s legs. You made a mistake with the pun. I took a photo and ended up in a situation that everyone thought was very suspicious. Or as the kids say, ‘sus’.”
The photo was back in the headlines after allegations surfaced about Diddy’s alleged “Freak Off” parties that allegedly included debauchery and wild behavior.
Rawlings admits that these parties exist, although he argues that in Hollywood, a double standard is applied to what is considered appropriate.
“Everybody knows ‘Freak Offs,'” he said. “Everybody knows Hollywood is Hollywood. I don’t understand why all these assholes are acting like, ‘Oh my God, they had a party at the mansion and they did cocaine and all these drugs and stuff like that. “
Rawlings later defended what he called the “context” for the photo, saying the photo was taken 10 years ago at a party that he felt was more festive than scandalous.
“It was just a vibe,” Rawlings said. “We had dinner, we exchanged good energy, and that’s what it is for me. Nothing more, nothing less.”
He also pointed out that the event was a family affair with his son there as well as Dave Chappelle’s children. He ended by talking about how image perception has evolved over time, while also reminding that it was once a moment of great success for Black men.
