early life
Dr. Tumi, born Tumisang Makweya, was born on July 10, 1981 to David Makweya and Lilly Makweya.
Growing up in Seshego, Limpopo, Dr Toomey was enthusiastic about his future. His father was a pastor and his mother was a teacher at a local school.

The doctor and gospel singer performed very well in high school and was eventually accepted into the Medical University of South Africa (Medunsa).
Dr. Tumi graduated in 2006 after six years of medical school.
Profession
Dr Toomey initially practised medicine in a public health facility, but that didn’t last long. After leaving, he opened a private practice in Mabopane, north of Pretoria, which he still runs today.
Dr. Tumi signed with Universal Music. He also signed a record deal with King Records.
Gospel
The medical graduate developed an interest in gospel music while in school.
He participated in the Coca-Cola Pop Star Singing Competition and ranked among the top 20 that year. He became the focus of attention after releasing the albums “The Gathering Of Worshippers” and “Love On The Cross”.
Since the beginning of his music career, he has recorded several hit gospel songs such as “No Other God”, “Wafika”, “All of Me” and “Because of Jesus”.
Dr Tumi is also a prolific songwriter and music producer in South Africa, and his expertise in gospel music has won him acclaim in recent years.

Personal life
Dr. Tumi married his fiancée, Kgaogelo Makweya, in 2008. He is also the father of three children: Bokamoso, Khumoetlile and Onalerona Makweya.
