Devrakesh is a famous actor and film producer who was born in Itiggud, Mysore on August 19, 1942. He grew up in a family with a rich entrepreneurial background, his father Bangla Sharma Rao was a well-known entrepreneur and his mother Jayama was involved in trade.

Devrakesh spent his formative years in Mysore along with his brother Madhusodana Rao (also known as Madhusudana Rao or Madhusudhan Rao).

Dwarakish received his early education in Sharada Vilas and Banumaiah schools and later obtained a diploma in mechanical engineering.
