Dwayne Haskins Jr. was born on May 3, 1997, in Highland Park, New Jersey, and moved to Potomac, Maryland, while in ninth grade. He died on April 9, 2022.
He passed for 5,308 yards and 54 touchdowns during his high school football career at Bullis. To play college football, he initially committed to the University of Maryland instead of Rutgers University but chose to attend Ohio State University.

Haskins missed his freshman season with the Buckeyes in 2016. He is one of only seven quarterbacks in NCAA Division I history to have both 4,000 passing yards and 50 touchdowns in the same season.

Although the Redskins did not officially retire his high school and college number 7, he requested and was allowed to wear it by Joe Theismann. He made his NFL debut against the New York Giants, replacing Case Keenum.

On April 9, 2022, while crossing a Florida highway to practice with teammates, Haskins was killed when he was hit by a dump truck. He was struck by a truck while walking on Interstate 595 near Davie, Florida and died at the scene.
