Dwyer Ellis is an American actor and former professional football player. Born on April 2, 1984 in Brooklyn, New York. The son of Troy and Karen Ellis, Ellis has a brother, Brian Ellis, and a sister, Tori Ellis. Ellis attended Hofstra University, where he played college football and studied communications and performance.
He was an outstanding player who finished his college career with impressive numbers, including 176 catches for 2,207 yards and 22 touchdowns. After college, Ellis began a professional football career as a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). Devale Ellis is an African-American Christian.

Deval Ellis began his career as a football player, specifically as a wide receiver. In 2006, he was undrafted in the NFL draft, but had the opportunity to participate in rookie minicamp as a trial player. His performance during the workout was impressive, and the Detroit Lions signed him to their eight-man practice squad on September 3, 2006.
Despite initially signing, Ellis’ tenure with the Lions was short-lived. He did play in the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks on September 9, but was removed from the active roster just two days later, on September 11. He re-signed to the practice squad shortly after. However, his time on the practice squad was short. He was promoted to the active roster on October 15 and made his first start against the Buffalo Bills.
Unfortunately, Ellis’ time with the Lions came to an end on August 30, 2008, when he was waived during final roster cuts. He sat out the entire 2008 regular season but got another chance when the Cleveland Browns signed him to a future contract on December 31, 2008. This opportunity was short-lived as he was waived by the Browns on July 26, 2009.
After a failed attempt to break into the NFL, Ellis turned his attention to the entertainment industry. In the 2010s, he began to guest star in many TV series, including strength, Laura’s Mystery, Gotham, blacklistand NCIS.
