The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has made significant progress in investigating Betta Edu, the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, and its alleged involvement in money laundering. According to recent reports, the EFCC has recovered a whopping N30 billion and is currently screening 50 bank accounts involved in the case.
In a statement issued by EFCC Chairman Olanipekun Olukayode, also known as Ola Olukoyede, he shed light on the challenges faced in such complex investigations, stressing that they take time . He assured the public that the EFCC team works diligently to detect financial irregularities and ensure justice is served.
Olukoyede did not deny the situation but acknowledged the importance of the task ahead. With more than 50 bank accounts to scrutinize, it’s clear this is no easy task. But he remained resolute, urging Nigerians to be patient and trust the process.
In addition to the investigation, the EFCC emphasized the importance of collective action in fighting corruption. Olukoyede called on everyone, from ordinary citizens to the judiciary and legislature, to play their part in holding corrupt individuals accountable and promoting a culture of transparency and integrity.
