Early life and education
Elvin Ng was born in Singapore on 23 December 1980. His father, Ng Chye Seng, is a prolific Singaporean businessman, and his mother, Linda Chew, is a ceramic artist.
He is the eldest of three members of the family and has a younger brother and a younger sister, whose identities are yet to be confirmed.
Elvin Ng attended National Junior College, Catholic High School and Jurong Primary School. He obtained a degree in English Literature with honours from the National University of Singapore. He said his mother, Linda Chew, instilled in him a strong sense of social responsibility from an early age.
Elvin Ng has been involved in several activities for charitable organizations and traveled to Brazil and Peru when he was 20. These projects have helped him better understand his own privilege.
When he was 21, he pledged to donate 10% of all his income before the age of 40 to charity to help poor children around the world.

Elvin Ng was discovered to have talent when he was still in college, thanks to MediaCorp DJ-host Dennis Chew and Belinda Lee’s talent show School Belles and Playboys.
His acting and appearance caught the attention of producers from MediaCorp, who taped the show at his university, the National University of Singapore. In 2005, he and Bai Qiong played supporting roles in the TV show Hopeful Life, and MediaCorp gave them the opportunity to sign a contract.
Subsequently, Sandra Ng was nominated twice at the 2006 Star Awards, but lost the Most Popular Newcomer Award to Chen Zhiwen. Between 2006 and 2016, he won the Top Ten Most Popular Male Singer Award ten times and was named the Most Popular Artist of All Time at the Star Awards.
