Ernest C. Garcia III is an American businessman and co-founder of Carvana, born in the United States in 1982 or 1983.
He is the son of Ernest Garcia II. He began studying at Stanford University in 2005.
As a result of this effort, DriveTime then took Carvana public in 2017. Garcia led Carvana as its president at this time.
Early life
Ernest Garcia II’s son is Ernest Garcia III. In 2005, he graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in management science and engineering.
Career
At RBS Greenwich Capital, Garcia began his career as an associate in the Principal Trading Team.
He started working for DriveTime in 2007 and in 2012 he co-founded Carvana, a division of the company, with Ryan Keeton and Ben Huston. Garcia has served as Carvana’s president and CEO since then.
DriveTime eventually spun out of Carvana, which went public in 2017. Garcia was named Carvana’s president at the time.
Garcia received the 2016 Ernst & Young Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Mountain Desert region for the consumer technology category.
Garcia’s wealth fell 98% in 2022, as measured by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, as Carvana’s stock price fell further amid bankruptcy fears.

Phoenix, Arizona, is where Garcia resides. Liza, girlfriend of Ernie Garcia III, became his wife. Together, the couple has three children.
