She comes from the northern state of Borno, which has been ravaged by the Boko Haram terrorist group since 2010.

Fati Abubakar was born in 1987 to Mr. and Mrs. Abubakar.

As a photojournalist, she visited the Deribe Palace in Maiduguri. She also worked on The Call A Campaign Documentary in Ghana and filmed a video for the Duke Amandla Chorus.

She also spoke at Callascope, a global women’s health technology event hosted by the Duke Center. She was one of the speakers at the 2019 Switch Point Conference.
