Biography
Fikile Mbalula (born 8 April 1971) is one of the longest-serving South African politicians.
He is currently the Minister of Transport of South Africa and has held this position since May 2019.
He was actively involved in South African politics and was a member of the African National Congress.

Early life
Fikile Mbalula was born on 8 April 1971 in a small town, Botshabelo in the Free State, South Africa.
He was not born into luxury and his parents tried and made sure to support his dreams.
He witnessed the apartheid regime in South Africa and that was what motivated him to pursue a career in leadership.
Education
Fikile Mbalula completed his primary and secondary education in the Free State, South Africa.
He is very knowledgeable and has a BA in Economics. He also has a Masters in the same field.
Unlike many other African leaders, Fikile Mbalula received leadership training from the Centre for Career Information and Research.
Career
Fikile Mbalula began his political career as public secretary and vice president before becoming president of the Botshabelo Youth Congress (his hometown) in 1988.
He used this platform to gain the position of secretary of the African National Congress Youth League, serving from 1991. He became provincial secretary of the African National Congress Youth League in 1994, serving for 2 years. He joined the South African Youth Congress in 1998 and was appointed president of the International Socialist Youth Alliance.
He took up his first ministerial position in May 2009. He was appointed Deputy Minister of Police and served for one year. In November 2010, he was appointed Minister of Sports and Recreation.
The South African government reshuffled its cabinet in 2017 and he was appointed Minister of Police. He is currently Minister of Transport, a position he has held since 2019 after being appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa following the South African general elections. It is important to note that he is an active member of the African National Congress.

Fikile Mbalula is married. His wife is Nozuko Mbalula, a South African royal princess. He jokes about how hard it was for him to woo her. He is happily married and has children. He is very private about his children.
He has been embroiled in a number of scandals, the most recent being a family trip in 2017. According to investigators, Fikile Mbalula used South African government money to fund the trip and the expenses incurred.
