fortnite
Developed by Epic Games and launched in 2017, Fortnite offers three core game modes that share the same gameplay and engine: Fortnite Battle Royale, a free-to-play battle royale game where 100 players compete to survive to the end; Fortnite: Save the World, a cooperative tower defense and survival game where up to four players can fend off zombie-like creatures with traps and fortifications they build; and Fortnite Creative, which gives players the freedom to craft their own worlds and battle arenas .
Initially, Save the World and Battle Royale were released as early access games in 2017, while Creative launched on December 6, 2018. Fortnite Battle Royale quickly gained huge popularity, attracting more than 125 million players within a year and becoming a cultural phenomenon, generating hundreds of millions of dollars every month. As of December 2019, Fortnite’s total revenue totaled a staggering $9 billion.
Save the World is available on macOS, PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One, while Battle Royale and Creative are available on the same platform, as well as on Android, iOS devices, and Nintendo Switch. Additionally, the game is launching alongside the ninth-generation PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.

More in V26.30: Return to Augmented Reality
In v26.30, game time, icy slides, and quick reload reality enhancements return!
Operation “Quick Weapon” (Beta)
New Quick Weapon Actions (Beta) have been added to the controller options!
When enabled, quick weapons will replace the Next Weapon button. Press Quick Weapon to equip your primary item. Pressing one of the face buttons while holding down a quick weapon switches to one of the other inventory slots. You can press the quick weapon and face buttons at the same time to instantly switch to the item, or hold down the quick weapon button for as long as you’re willing to get used to how the face buttons match up with the items in your inventory.
Additionally, when Quick Weapons are enabled, “Previous Weapon” is replaced by a “Position Marker” for easier communication with your squad. Alternatively, you can replace your previous weapon with an action of your choice by customizing the controls in the controller customization options.
Ending support for OS9 on Android devices
Starting with v28.00, players will need to be using OS10 or higher to continue to play Fortnite natively on Android in an officially supported manner. Android OS9 will no longer be officially supported in Fortnite, which means we will no longer proactively ensure its compatibility with Fortnite, and the quality of service may degrade over time, eventually becoming unplayable.
For players unable to upgrade to OS10, please note that Xbox Cloud Gaming, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, and Amazon Luna are all available alternatives. Currently, these services actively support OS9 Android devices, so you can continue to play Fortnite (via streaming).
Competition Notes
-
The Stake Shotgun, Thorne’s Vampire Blade, Pumpkin Launcher, Witch’s Broomstick, and Candy are not included in the tournament.
- Game time, icy slides, and quick reload reality enhancements are not included in the tournament.

“Fortnite” gameplay
Fortnite is a popular online video game developed by Epic Games that offers an engaging gaming experience through its three main game modes. Fortnite Battle Royale, the most famous mode, is a free-to-play battle royale game where up to 100 players battle on an island, with the last surviving individual or team winning. Players strategize, scavenge for resources, build structures, and engage in intense battles to ensure victory. Fortnite: Save the World, on the other hand, is a co-op mode in which teams of up to four players defend against waves of zombie creatures by gathering resources, setting traps, and fortifying structures.
This mode is more narrative-focused than Battle Royale. Finally, Fortnite Creative empowers players to unleash their creativity, providing a sandbox environment where they can design their own worlds, build structures, and even create custom game modes, resulting in unique and imaginative gaming experiences. Across all modes, survival, resource management, strategy building and engaging in combat are key aspects of the game’s huge appeal.
