Franz Ferdinand is set to return after a seven-year hiatus with a new album titled “The Human Fear” scheduled for release on January 10, 2025.

The new album was produced by Mark Ralph, who also produced the band’s 2013 album, “Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action”.

In preparation for the new release, their new single “Audacious” along with their new music video was released.

“It’s about having a bold response when you feel the fabric of existence breaking down around you,” singer Alex Kapranos said of the new song in a press release. “Bold, contrary. Looking over the edge into the eternity of nonexistence and saying Aye! F**k it! Not today thanks!”

“Making this record was one of the most life-affirming experiences I’ve ever had, but it’s called ‘Fear of Man,’” Kapranos added. “Fear reminds you that you’re alive. I think we’re all addicted in some way to the excitement it brings. How we react to it is a reflection of who we are as human beings. So it’s a series of songs that seek the thrill of being human through fear. Not that you necessarily recognize that on first listen.”
