Funmi Awelewa was born on October 12, 1993, in Ayeye, near Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, but her origin is from Iwo town in Osun State, southwestern Nigeria.

Funmi Awelewa received her primary education at Francis M Nursery and Primary School, Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State, graduating in 1999. She then proceeded to Orogun Grammar School, Akinyele, Oyo State, where she obtained her SSCE certificate.
Funmi Awelewa went on to study at the University of Ibadan where she obtained a National Diploma in Library, Archives and Information. After obtaining her diploma, she also obtained a Bachelor’s degree in the same field from the same university.
