Brooks and Yearwood appeared together when the former was charged with sexual assault and rape in October. The lawsuit was brought by the singer’s former makeup artist, who alleged that the singer had took her to Los Angeles to remember Sam Moore. However, things allegedly changed when they arrived in Los Angeles for the event and Brooks turned down her request for her own hotel room.
She went on to allege that Brooks appeared naked in the doorway and pulled her onto the bed where he assaulted her.
She claimed Brooks held her ankles upside down and penetrated her. He is said to have done so in such a violent manner that she believed she was “breaking in half”.
Brooks later denied the allegations and released a statement regarding the events.
“For the past two months, I have been in constant trouble with threats, lies, and tragic stories about what my future would be like if I didn’t write a check for millions of dollars. It was like a loaded gun waving in my face,” he said news week.
“Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, it means I’m admitting to acts that I’m not capable of doing—evil acts without any consequences.” someone should do it to someone else. We almost filed a lawsuit against this person.” a month ago to speak out against blackmail and defamation of character. We have filed anonymously for the benefit of both families,” the statement continued.
In December, Yearwood returned to the spotlight amid the ongoing lawsuit, where she performed at the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Washington, D.C. Brooks was absent from the event.
After news of the lawsuit broke, Brooks shared that he had discussed moving to Ireland. He revealed the news during a recent Facebook Live session for his series, Inside Studio G. In it, he shared that Yearwood was the driving force behind the move to the district.
“I think the last time she was there, she fell in love with the country so much. We played two weekends, we went all over the country and everyone was so sweet to her,” he said.
In December, Brooks faced a legal setback when his attempt to dismiss the case against him was rejected by the court.
