Early life and education

Gemma Christina Arterton, 38, was born on February 2, 1986 in Gravesend, Kent, England. She grew up with her sister Hannah Arterton. Arterton’s parents, Barry Arterton and Sally-Anne Heap, provided a good upbringing for their daughters.

Gemma was born with polydactyly, which left her with extra fingers, but these were surgically removed shortly after birth. Her mother, Sally-Anne Heap, runs a cleaning company, and her father, Barry J Arterton, is a welder.
