Genshin Impact is an action role-playing game developed and published by miHoYo. It was released in 2020 for Android, iOS, PlayStation 4, and Windows, with a release on PlayStation 5 in 2021 and a planned release on Nintendo Switch. The game takes place in a fantasy world called Teyvat, which is divided into seven nations, each governed by a different god and associated with a specific element.
In Genshin Impact, players control a character known as The Traveler, who is an interstellar adventurer. At the beginning of the game, The Traveler and their twin sibling find themselves separated after arriving in Teyvat. The main objective of the game is for The Traveler to search for their lost sibling while exploring the various nations of Teyvat.
The game features an anime-style open-world environment, allowing players to freely explore the vast and visually stunning landscapes of Teyvat. The world is filled with diverse locations, including bustling cities, lush forests, towering mountains, and mysterious dungeons to discover.
The gameplay of Genshin Impact revolves around a real-time action-based battle system. Players can control multiple characters, each with their own unique elemental abilities and combat styles. By strategically switching between characters and utilizing elemental magic, players can unleash powerful combos and defeat enemies. The game encourages players to experiment with different character combinations and elemental reactions to maximize their effectiveness in battle.
Genshin Impact follows a free-to-play model and includes gacha game mechanics. This means that players can acquire new characters, weapons, and other items through a random chance system. However, it is important to note that the game can be enjoyed without spending any money, as all content can be accessed and completed without making in-game purchases.
The world of Teyvat is constantly expanding and evolving through regular updates and patches. This “games as a service” model ensures that players have new content to explore and experience over time. The updates introduce new story quests, characters, events, and gameplay features, keeping the game fresh and engaging for players.

Genshin Impact Gameplay
Genshin Impact is an action role-playing game set in an expansive open world. Players can control four different characters in their party, switching between them seamlessly during combat to utilize various skills and attacks. Characters can be leveled up and equipped with artifacts and weapons to enhance their abilities.
The game offers a wide range of challenges and rewards. Players can take on bosses and complete various tasks to earn valuable resources. However, these challenges require a currency called Original Resin, which regenerates over time. By completing these challenges, players can increase their Adventure Rank, unlocking new quests, challenges, and raising the World Level, which determines the strength of enemies and rewards.
Exploration is a key aspect of the game, with players able to run, climb, swim, and glide throughout the world. Stamina limits these actions, but some characters possess abilities that can manipulate the environment, such as freezing water to create ice paths. Fast travel is available through teleportation nodes and Statues of The Seven, which also provide healing, revival, and stamina benefits.
Players can gather resources from the open world, such as food and ore, which can be used to enhance character strength. Cooking meals from ingredients found in the world can provide beneficial effects, such as health regeneration or stat boosts. Domains, special battle instances, offer materials to strengthen characters and weapons, and players can refine ore to create weapons or enhance their power.
The game features a multiplayer mode where up to four players can explore the world and join challenges together. Matchmaking can be done manually or automatically, and cross-platform play allows players on different platforms to play together.
Additional playable characters can be unlocked through quests or limited-time events. Most characters, however, are obtained through the game’s gacha system called “Wishes,” which requires premium in-game currencies. A pity system ensures that players receive rare items after a certain number of pulls.
