From the first time Susan set foot in Universal Studios, CA in 1983 with her family, she was fascinated by the fact that she was seeing the real “Gilligan’s Island”, the street from “Leave it to Beaver” and the house where the movie was filmed. She had never seen a TV show or movie quite like it.

She then explained that her daughter, Kathryn, started her career working in the film industry in 2012. She explained that Kathryn made her career much more interesting by studying and pursuing acting in film/on camera.

“I began to enjoy ‘going to the movies’ on a whole new level after experiencing what it was like to study, audition, and ‘work’ on set, as well as having a ‘movie lover’ in my house,” Susan writes. “Getting to know the film directors, casting directors, agents, photographers, fellow actors, and parents who supported this ‘dream’… brought a whole new level of appreciation for what it takes to get a creative thought onto paper, onto camera, and onto the screen.”

However, not all the credit goes to her mother, other members of her family also contributed their part to help her achieve her dream.

She writes, “Dating my husband (in Atlanta) after his UT Knoxville days meant that I didn’t know his family at all. When I visited Knoxville—overnight, of course—I felt less awkward…I just jumped into whatever they were doing around the house and helped. That was how I connected and talked about things they were interested in like his workshop or her cooking or filling his bird feeder…etc.”

Kathryn continues, “One day Joe P. put his arm around me and said… “You know what I like about you? You’re a Doer! I like that. That’s a good thing.” I thought hmmm… good! hahaha, I’ve thought about that many times since then. Now I can recognize the doers in the world and find myself wanting to line up with them!!”

Kathryn lost her grandfather a long time ago but has yet to reveal anything about him.

Davis Corry Dickerson is the father of actress Kathryn Kelly. He was born in January 1960 and is 62 years old.

Talking about his career background, Davis started his career at Averitt in sales management. He worked for the company from 1985 to 1999. He then served as Executive Vice President from April 2001 to August 2013. Starting in 2013, he served as President at Dickerson Transportation Solutions, LLC.

Susan graduated from Red Bank High School and studied college and secondary education at UT Knoxville, graduating in 1984.
