Popular and fan-favorite meteorologist Brandon Roux is no longer appearing on Detroit’s local news station WDIV. On July 2, 2023, he took to the internet to announce his departure. His fans were naturally saddened by the news and also wondered why he was leaving and where he would go next. So in this article, we’ll discuss all of that and more.
Brandon Roux leaves WDIV Local 4
After 13 years at Local 4 News, Brandon Roux announced his departure from WDIV-TV (Channel 4) just hours before his final broadcast. He had previously taken to social media to encourage viewers to follow him one last time.
So, after the Sunday morning weather report, Brandon said goodbye before being clearly interrupted. He went on to explain some of his concerns and was cut off mid-sentence. The broadcast then cut to a promo for Channel 4’s public relations show “Flashpoint” with Devin Scillian. Why this happened remains a mystery.
At Local 4, Brandon is an important part of the 4Warn Weather Team. He reports weather for Local 4 News Mornings every weekend. During his tenure, he has received numerous weather reporting awards, including the 2009 Associated Press Award for Outstanding Weather Performance and Best Continuous Weather Coverage.
Brandon Roux New Job
Brandon did not reveal why he left. Local 4, in its farewell message to him, also did not give any clues as to why he left the station. On his final day, when the Detroit TV station paid tribute to their popular host, they simply stated, “Local 4 wishes Brandon Roux the best in his next opportunity.”
Prior to working at Local 4, Brandon served as a radio meteorologist at several other stations, including WBNS-TV in Columbus, KTNV-TV in Las Vegas, WFTC-TV in Minneapolis and KIVI-TV in Boise.
Previously, Brandon studied Meteorology at Mississippi State University (Class of 2006) and Broadcast Journalism at Iona College (Class of 1996).
