S11E03 of My 600 LB Life featured the story of Wess Schulze, an incredibly self-aware man who used food to cope with life-changing childhood trauma. The man weighed 705.1 pounds when he began his journey on Younan Nowzaradan’s televised weight loss program. The first 12 months of his weight loss journey were documented by the TLC show’s creators as Wess continued to make dramatic improvements. And by the time his journey ended after a year, his physique had changed dramatically.
Wess in his episode My 600-Lb Life also allows the camera to capture his vulnerability. And this part is especially difficult and not easy for him, because of his private nature.
Wess said that after his parents divorced when he was a toddler, and that his father (a truck driver) was often away for work, his older sister (age 7) often took care of him. He said that he turned to food for comfort and that someone in his family was “very abusive” at the time. Again, his way of coping with the abuse was food.

Where is Wess Schulze now?
At the time of this writing, Wess Schulze is said to weigh around 477 pounds, having lost 227 pounds during his time on the show.
Wess seems to have been consistently working on his fitness and weight loss journey.
In a February 2023 Facebook post, he seemed quite happy to share how far he had come on his mission. “OMG I AM SO CRAZY! I just tried on a pair of jeans… 11 inches or about 5 sizes smaller than I usually wear! And they’re about 1 size bigger!” he exclaimed.
While his success with Dr. Now is now pretty clear, the entire process has been a “horror ride,” as his fans have described it. Starting with a decline in his ability to walk and the fear of becoming bedridden and suffering from lymphedema, some of his first tests came back disappointing.

On LinkedIn, Wess is described as an experienced debt collector with a proven history of working in the environmental services industry. However, the profile only explains his career prior to 2018.
In 2018, from February to November, Wess worked as an A/R specialist at Accuworx-Gulf Coast. Previously, he was a payment specialist at Space City Services in Houston, Texas.
During the previous year, he was a business administrator at Sprint Waste Management ServicesOver the years, he has worked as a dispatcher, customer service representative, and finally as an executive at Tide pool in the Victoria Texas area.
Wess, who weighed 345 pounds in high school, discovered his passion for theater during this time.

Where is Wess Schulze from?
Wess Schulze is from Danevang, an unincorporated community in southern Wharton County, in the U.S. state of Texas.
After dropping out of school and using his student loans to binge eat and abuse drugs, Wess moved to Houston to work in an office. But even then, he continued to binge eat to cope with his newfound depression in the unfamiliar big city. Things got worse, and by age 33, he had lost his job and his apartment and had to move in with his parents.
