Granblue Fantasy and Rise open beta testing
- The open beta of “Granblue Fantasy: Rise” will be held from November 9 to November 12, 2023, and is divided into two testing periods.
Field testing phase:
- November 9, 2023 at 6:00 pm PST to November 10, 2023 at 5:00 pm PST.
- November 11, 2023 at 11:00 PM PST to November 12, 2023 at 11:00 PM PST.
Features and modes:
- The public beta is focused on testing cross-platform play functionality between Steam and PlayStation players.
- During the beta phase, players will have access to various modes, including Casual Matches, Lobby Matches, Training Mode, and Grand Bruise Legends (mini-game mode).

Granblue Fantasy is a role-playing video game featuring turn-based combat. In the game, you will find summons and a career system that can modify the protagonist’s abilities and growth. Characters level up and gain new skills by accumulating experience points. In addition, specific materials can be collected to give the character higher star levels, known as “FLB” or Full Limit Breaking. Equipping characters with summons and weapons increases their attack power and health.
Characters in Granblue Fantasy can be obtained in a variety of ways, such as main quests, special event quests, or using in-game currency to obtain random crystal shards, which may include adding character-specific unique weapons to your party.
These characters, summons, and weapons are classified as SSR, SR, R, or N, each associated with one of the six elements: wind, water, fire, earth, light, or darkness. Using elements that are beneficial to your opponent in combat, such as water versus fire, will yield benefits and increase your team’s damage output. Some levels even punish players for not using advantageous elements.

Granblue Fantasy plot
In the first act of the game’s storyline, “The Girl in Blue,” the player assumes the role of captain, either Gran or Djeeta. Together with their winged companion Venn, they came to the peaceful town of Schinkensteel. However, their calm was broken by the appearance of a nearby Ester Empire airship.
The captain inadvertently rescues a girl named Lilia and Imperial officer Katarina from the Empire, leading to a horrific conflict in which the captain is seriously injured. In order to save them, Lilia fused her soul with the captain, and her extraordinary power summoned the powerful original Bahamut to repel the Empire’s army.
With their fates intertwined, the three embark on a journey to the mysterious island of Estalucia, hoping to escape the Empire and uncover the secrets of the captain’s estranged father. Their journey takes them to the Breeze Islands, but Catalina’s driving accident results in an emergency landing.
They meet Rackham, an eccentric helmsman whose airship isn’t working properly. The Empire pursued Luria relentlessly and eventually caught up with them. After convincing Rackam to help them, they fought off Imperial soldiers and helped repair Rackam’s airship, the Grandcypher, setting it on its way to the sky.
In Act Two, “Dawn Skies,” the crew faces various challenges, including thwarting Freesia’s ambitions and collecting fragments of the Sky Kingdom map. The completed Panta Grande Sky map allowed them to break through the miasma of Grim Basin. However, Loki’s manipulations cause the crew to separate, and they find themselves in the sky kingdom of Nalgegrand, a kingdom that was destroyed ten years ago. Here they met a young man named Cain on the island of Melkmal.
In the third act, “Astral Travel,” the Grandcypher team prevents the True King from taking over the Wall of Narkh. In this fierce battle, the protagonist rescues Alia and falls from the collapsing island. The crew will embark on a mission to track down and reunite with the protagonist, leading players on a thrilling adventure in a fantasy world filled with mysterious characters and hidden histories.
